If you’re making sales presentations and you hear from the guests, on a regular basis, ” I have to think about it,” you’re not creating enough URGENCY for them to make the choice to do business with you TODAY.
Let’s uncover the TODAY issue. First, you as the salesperson have to believe that the guest is there to become your newest owner TODAY. If you don’t believe that it’s possible, then probable, chances are, it won’t happen. You have to have a stronger belief in the possibilities than the guest. The energy level and attitude of the salesperson is very important.
How can a salesperson believe this even more strongly? Go back into your life and ask yourself the question, has there ever been any unbelievable defining moments when things happened in your life that changed your life forever? Have you lost any loved ones? What would you do to bring them back Today?
Keep the pictures of these situations in your mind clear, it can help you to paint a stronger picture for your guest to take action while with you TODAY. I was teaching a financial seminar on the Sept.11.2001. I was an hour’s drive from Manhattan and started my seminar at 9:00AM. Half of the class worked at the World Trade Center. At 9:08AM someone came into the room and advised us of the disaster. My story is that 30 people are alive today because they were in a seminar.
Even with my family, I remember and can share stories about an aunt who was functioning normally after her job having dinner with my uncle. He took a little after-dinner nap and when he woke up about two hours later, his wife was totally incapacitated from multiple strokes that occurred while he was sleeping. She could no longer function on her own without care. It happened in an instant, an unforeseen moment.
Today is a great time to take action on your life and to enjoy being alive. In fact, yesterday would have been even better to start a program to have fun, share with the family, have more romance, and even to save some money. Yesterday is gone, so the only day we can influence at this moment is Today.
Accidents have happened with the family which also create eye-openers and wake-up calls to act on life’s opportunities TODAY. My son ran out of gas, the vehicle was stuck on the expressway. When he got a ride to a gas station and came back with the gas, a huge truck has plowed into his car and it had been totaled…. it was smashed beyond recognition. I believe that luck and timing kept him from being inside that vehicle, but it showed us that a few moments can change everything, forever.
We forget that we’re human and that we do have a time limit because it’s not part of our daily focus that our lives will end. Usually, until someone in the family or you are diagnosed with something terminal or you go to a funeral. Reality sinks in that life is precious and we need to start enjoying it TODAY. Why not? If you’re holding your breath, what are you waiting for? Each day we have less time to live and more reason to have made these choices to enjoy as vacation owners YESTERDAY.
