Getting It Right With Kathy Bowes

Recently I had the privilege of interviewing Katy Bowes. Kathy is the founder of a program to help people stop overeating and to live better lives.

KM: There are so many dieting programs out there, what makes yours different?

KB: There are a gazillion “dieting” programs out there—aren’t there? It’s amazing.

And I’m saddened by those that are not really helping their clients. Many even set them up for failure.

Last week I was talking with one of the participants in my newest class—who has been really struggling to stay on a very popular diet program that supplies refined foods to their clients. This beautiful woman is binging, periodically, and feeling awful about her inability to stay on it.

Is It Possible To Do Submission Grappling Without Getting Injured?

Is it possible to be a grappler and train injury free? By some reactions that I’ve received in the past, many tend to think that grappling “injury-free” is very possible. Some grapplers like to believe that most injuries could be avoided if training partners were more considerate and less competitive while training.

How To Give Yourself A Quick Confidence Boost

Everybody can do with an quick and easy way to increase their self belief or self confidence sometimes. This is a little method you can use when you are feeling down or need a kick up the backside.

  1. Make a 30 second speech in your head imagining you are trying to convince someone about the quality you need. This is off the cuff, do it now. Right this second.
  2. Do a quick 1 minute review of what you said and think of the things you really need to add but missed the first time around.
  3. Make the speech again (30sec), this time do it out loud and include the new ideas.
  4. Pause for 1 minute and think how to add some more bang using power words and words of action. You want to use words with movement and strength (like build, create, slash, revolutionize, energize)
  5. Make the speech a last time for 30 seconds out loud and add in the power words and the bang.

When you do this you can get yourself really pumped up, your mind will go into overdrive and genuinely start to convince yourself of these things. Soon the reality will match your dream as your mind does its job.
