Small-town Cataclysm

The settings of great science fiction novels can be classed in two categories: the exotic and the mundane.

The exotic setting is where the author sends or plonks the reader right in the midst of another world or the far future of our world. The mundane setting is where the author describes the familiar world we know, and how something strange or alien impinges on it - whether by means of disaster, invasion or other important change.

Johnny Depp Has Made The Curse Of The Black Pearl The Best Pirate Picture Ever

The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl – 4 Stars (Excellent)

The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is hands down the best pirate movie ever made, earning 5 Oscar nominations, and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow delivered the best pirate performance ever.

Johnny Depp looks and acts like a very likeable pirate, and his wearing of the costume and persona is second to none.

Most pirate films rely heavily on the story line and action to carry the film, but Johnny Depp trumps the story line and action in creating a centerpiece character around which only good things happen.

Vedic Astrology & Western Astrology - Complementary Paths For Discovering Your True Nature

Even though Vedic astrology, or Jyotish, has been practiced in the West for over twenty years many people still know very little about it and see it as an unfamiliar and/or confusing system of knowledge. Adding to the confusion is the common perception that Western astrology is more psychological and Vedic Astrology is more spiritual.

I personally believe that a great deal of insight can be derived from either system. In order to grow spiritually we must have an understanding of our psychological blocks as well as our greater spiritual identity. In competent hands, Western astrology is extremely useful in understanding family of origin issues, core negative imprinting, and blocks to full self-expression.

Happiness

Happiness is an interesting concept. What makes somebody happy? What can you do to be happy? Happiness isn’t just an in-the-moment thing; it is your state of being, at least, for a moderate while. People can become depressed, unmotivated, disheartened, and discouraged for many reasons, and depending on the magnitude, the sadness can replace the happiness as a state of being. However, if one is normally happy and then becomes sad because of, say, a funeral, that does not mean they have lost their happiness, it is just temporarily gone, in alternative to actually being displaced.

Communion With The Infinite - The Visual Music Of The Shipibo Tribe Of The Amazon

The Magical Art of the Shipibo People of the Upper Amazon

Underlying the intricate geometric patterns of great complexity displayed in the art of the Shipibo people is a concept of an all pervading magical reality which can challenge the Western linguistic heritage and rational mind.

These patterns are more than an expression of the one-ness of creation, the inter-changeability of light and sound, the union or fusion of perceived opposites, it is an ongoing dialogue or communion with the spiritual world and powers of the Rainforest. The visionary art of the Shipibo brings this paradigm into a physical form. The Ethnologist Angelika Gebhart-Sayer, calls this “visual music”.

Chinese Wall Scrolls - History, Practice And Artistry

The span of Chinese culture traverses 6,000 years, and the history of Chinese art is almost as long. The art of Chinese painting can be thought to begin with the Chinese written language, because Chinese characters began as simple pictures (or pictographs) thousands of years ago. These have evolved into the Chinese characters seen today. The technique of ‘painting’ those original pictographs naturally flowed into more detailed depictions of landscapes. The same utensils, round pointed brushes made from either goat hair or wolf hair are still used in traditional Chinese painting today. Painting and calligraphy were the two most highly prized arts in the courts of the nobles in ancient China, with calligraphy considered the purest form of art. Writings of famous calligraphers were mounted on scrolls and hung on walls.

Malcolm Little X Shabazz

This article leads to its own conclusions. There is an air of uncertainty about Betty Shabazz’s background and early life. Shabazz was born in Detroit, Michigan as Betty Sanders. She is reportedly the daughter of Shelman Sandlin and a woman named Sanders. Shabazz was an illegitimate child and had a scattered childhood. Young Betty Shabazz was taken in by foster parents after her troubled childhood and grew up with them in a fairly sheltered, loving, middle-class household in Detroit. Throughout her life, Shabazz devoted her life to black community affairs in the areas of childcare, health and sexual education.

Is Regular Grade Gasoline Just As Good As Premium For Your Car?

Regular grade gasoline is just as good as premium gas for your car if you are not driving a high performance vehicle such as a Viper, Corvette or a high end luxury car.

Premium gasoline was designed for high performance vehicles and luxury cars that are built for high rpm’s and richer fuel mixtures. But to put premium gas in your everyday driving vehicle that doesn’t specify premium on the gas cap is a waste of money. It may even lower your gas mileage by causing your fuel system to run a little rich.
